Markdown This File provides a browser-based Markdown editor, educational material, and conversion for an explicit set of supported file formats. Conversion is powered by the open-source MarkItDown project in a separately operated service.
Features, supported formats, size limits, availability, and retention controls may change as the service is maintained. The service does not promise conversion of every file or pixel-perfect reproduction of source layout.
Your responsibilities
You must have the rights and authorization needed to upload, convert, edit, download, and publish a document. You are responsible for reviewing the result, protecting sensitive material, and complying with copyright, privacy, confidentiality, export, and other applicable obligations.
- Do not upload malware or use files to probe, disrupt, or bypass service controls.
- Do not attempt remote URL conversion, unsupported file execution, or access to other users' data.
- Do not use the service to infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights.
- Do not rely on converted output without checking material facts and references.
Local drafts and backups
Editor documents are stored locally in your browser by default. Browser storage can be cleared, corrupted, limited, or unavailable. It is not a backup service. Download important documents and keep them in a durable system you control.
Conversion limitations
Automated extraction may omit content, misread order, flatten formatting, or produce invalid links and tables. Scanned text, complex page layouts, charts, macros, embedded media, encrypted files, and interactive elements may not convert usefully.
You must review generated Markdown before using it for legal, financial, medical, safety-critical, production, accessibility, or other high-impact purposes. The service is not a substitute for professional advice or an authoritative source document.
Availability and warranties
The service is provided on an as-available basis without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by applicable law, implied warranties are disclaimed.
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary losses arising from use of, or inability to use, the service.
Abuse prevention and changes
Requests may be rate-limited, rejected, or blocked to protect users and service availability. Access may be suspended for abusive, unlawful, or security-threatening activity.
These terms may be updated when the service or applicable requirements change. Continued use after an updated version is published indicates acceptance of the revised terms where permitted by law.
